Call for speakers and key dates
Abstract submission now closed
Have you adapted your teaching practices to benefit students’ learning or wellbeing? Do you have any novel techniques for incorporating EDI into your teaching? It doesn’t matter how big or small, we want to hear from you!
We are looking for speakers from any discipline to present on a teaching initiative or strategy, or event they have implemented within their department or more broadly.
There will be two formats for presentations:
- Panel presentations (10 minutes followed by 5 minutes of discussion); these will take place in the morning
- Short presentations (5 minutes with time for discussion at the end); these will take place in the afternoon
Please format your abstract using the structure:
- Aims: State the primary aims of the paper/event/initiative; there should be a clear objective in line with the scope of the conference, i.e., of a pedagogic/scholarship nature. If empirical research, the major hypothesis tested or research question should be posed.
- Methodology: Describe the design of the event/initiative. Include the schedule of the event/initiative and rationale behind this. Outline how staff/students were involved with the event/initiative (if recruited, how? E.g., voluntary, paid). If empirical, describe how participants were selected and number of participants (if documentary data used, state how these were selected), materials employed (if appropriate), methods of data collection and analysis.
- Results: Outline the impact of the event/initiative (e.g., feedback from staff/students, evaluation data). If empirical, include numerical and/or textual data. For qualitative analyses briefly describe your findings (e.g., themes, categories, discourses identified).
- Implications/Relevance: State the conclusions that can be drawn from the study/event/initiative, including theoretical, methodological, or applied/policy implications as appropriate and any key limitations/lesson learnt for future. Overall conclusions should be aligned with the scope of the conference, i.e., directly applicable to a higher education context.
NB – If presenting a theoretical, review or practical paper, please adapt the structure as needed.
The organising committee will select presenting speakers from those submitted. Selected speakers will need to register to the conference in order to take part.
